Example 8. 3270 Emulation from a Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 Workstation on Different IP Networks

Follow these steps to establish communication from the Windows® 8, Windows® 8.1, or Windows® 10 workstation (Node A), and from Windows® 8, Windows® 8.1, or Windows® 10 (Node D), to the VTAM® Host (Node E).

For Windows® 8, Windows® 8.1, or Windows® 10 Node A, do as follows:
  1. Add the following entries to the local HOSTS file:
            10.2.4.8    CP5.NETB.SNA.IBM.COM
            127.0.0.4   IPNET1.GWCNET
            127.0.0.3   IPNET1.CP1
  2. Create a workstation profile using the Personal Communications configuration tool:
    1. Click on the Start/Configure Session icon; or click Configure from the Communication menu. The Customize Communication window is displayed.
    2. Select the following options:
      • Host: zSeries
      • Interface: AnyNet®
      • Attachment: TCP/IP LU 0,1,2,3 via DLUR
    3. Click on Configure.
    4. Click on Configure Link.
    5. On the Configure Local System window, enter:

      PC Location Name: NETA.CP1

    6. On the Configure DLUR window, enter:
      • DLUS name: NETB.CP5
      • Routing Preference: Non-native only
    7. On the Configure AnyNet® Connection window, enter:

      SNA domain name suffix: SNA.IBM.COM

    8. Save your workstation profile.
For Windows® Server 2008 Node B, add the following entries to the HOSTS file:
        10.2.4.6    CP1.NETA.SNA.IBM.COM
        127.0.0.2   DEPLU1.NETA.SNA.IBM.COM
        10.2.4.6    DEPLU1.NETA.SNA.IBM.COM
        127.0.0.4   IPNET1.GWCNET
        127.0.0.3   IPNET1.CP1
For Windows® Server 2008 Node C, add the following entries to the HOSTS file:
        172.20.1.2  CP4.NETC.SNA.IBM.COM
        127.0.0.2   DEPLU2.NETC.SNA.IBM.COM
        172.20.1.2  DEPLU2.NETC.SNA.IBM.COM
        127.0.0.4   IPNET2.GWCNET
        127.0.0.3   IPNET2.CP2
For Windows® 8, Windows® 8.1, or Windows® 10 Node D, do as follows:
  1. Add the following entry to the local HOSTS file:
            172.20.1.1  CP5.NETB.SNA.IBM.COM
            127.0.0.4   IPNET2.GWCNET
            127.0.0.3   IPNET2.CP2
  2. Create a workstation profile using the Personal Communications configuration tool:
    1. Click the Start/Configure Session icon; or click Configure from the Communication menu. The Customize Communication window is displayed.
