To use the view, edit, copy, print, or data create functions with a COBOL copybook, you need to make a COBOL compiler available to File Manager.

  After you have completed the initial installation and customization of File Manager Base function, you can perform the following steps to verify your customization.

Using a licensed site COBOL compiler

By default, the File Manager internal compiler will be used.

If you wish to use the licensed site compiler, there are two methods:

Before invoking File Manager, allocate ddname FMNCOB to the desired compiler library, usually hlq.SIGYCOMP, or
Create a FACILTY Class Profile FILEM.COBOL.EXTERNAL with CONTROL access or higher. See Controlling the use of the COBOL compiler.

Note: The COBOL compiler requires a region size of at least 200 MB, and possibly more depending on the complexity of the copybook being compiled.
