Marking a duplicate record
If two records are similar, you can place one in a Duplicate state. A record can be a duplicate of only one record, but it can have more than one duplicate.
About this task
For example, Record A can be a duplicate of Record B, and Record C can be a duplicate of Record B.
To mark a duplicate record:
Procedure
- Find the record that you want to mark as a duplicate.
- On the record form, click Actions and select Duplicate. Alternatively, on the Rational® ClearQuest® menu bar, select Duplicate.
- In the Enter ID field of
the Mark as Duplicate window, enter the record ID of the original record of
which this record is a duplicate.The Enter ID field is case sensitive.
- To view the record to see if it is a duplicate of another record, click Find.
- To update the selected record before committing it, select Allow updating the record before committing it to the database.
- Click OK .
- Click Apply on the record form to commit the record to the database.
Results
- After a duplicate record is committed, you can revert the record to its previous state by clicking Actions on the record form and selecting Unduplicate. Alternatively, on the Rational® ClearQuest® menu bar, select Unduplicate. Then click Apply.
