Use the Rational® ClearQuest® EmailRelay service to implement a private relay service to forward email requests to a server that is registered for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server access.
The Rational® ClearQuest® EmailRelay application
The Rational® ClearQuest® EmailRelay application is a service-based application that runs as a WebSphere® application. It receives XML-encoded mail notifications from your EmailPlus-enabled Rational ClearQuest database or from querying the Rational ClearQuest database for email records. Then, the EmailRelay application translates the requests or data into email.

The Rational® ClearQuest® EmailRelay application

The Rational® ClearQuest® EmailRelay application is a service-based application that runs as a WebSphere® application. It receives XML-encoded mail notifications from your EmailPlus-enabled Rational® ClearQuest® database or from querying the Rational® ClearQuest® database for email records. Then, the EmailRelay application translates the requests or data into email.

You can use the EmailRelay application with the following EmailPlus mail transport modes:

SMTP Relay mode
This service listens for incoming network connections from the EmailPlus-enabled Rational® ClearQuest® database. It accepts the XML encoded information, decodes it, and then establishes a connection to the SMTP server to send the mail.
PostOffice Relay mode
This service periodically polls your EmailPlus-enabled Rational® ClearQuest® database for EmailPlusPostOffice records. Each EmailPlusPostOffice record contains an XML encoded mail notification. The data that is contained in this record is decoded, and then a connection to the email to the SMTP server is established to send the email.
