Configuring the BIRT Report Designer RCP for Rational® ClearQuest® reporting

Copy the Rational® ClearQuest® Reporting Driver plug-ins to the plugins directory of the BIRT Report Designer to enable reporting from ClearQuest® data sources.

Before you begin

Rational® ClearQuest® supports only a subset of the Report Designer RCP software versions available in the Business Intelligence and Reporting tools collection. Before beginning the installation, review technote 1509579 to determine which version to install.

The Rational® ClearQuest® Reporting Driver requires the Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.6.0 or higher. Reporting tools that use older versions of the Java™ Runtime Environment cannot load and use the Rational® ClearQuest® Reporting Driver. If you already have a Java™ Runtime Environment installed on your system, run this command from a command prompt to check the version number:java -version.

About this task

The BIRT Designer is a simple to use RCP Version of the BIRT Report Designer for report developers on the Windows™ platform. You must configure this application with the Rational® ClearQuest® Reporting Driver to enable reporting from ClearQuest® data sources.

Procedure

  1. Download the BIRT RCP Designer from http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/
  2. Extract the contents of the BIRT RCP Designer archive.
  3. Copy the Rational® ClearQuest® Reporting Driver plug-ins from the ClearQuest® reports directory to the .\plugins directory of the report designer. The plug-ins are in one of this directory
    On Windows™:
    %CLEARQUEST_HOME\reports\driver\plugins
    On UNIX™ or Linux™:
    $CLEARQUEST_HOME/reports/driver/plugins
