Service Location Protocol

Personal Communications enables connection to SLP servers that are RFC 2165 compliant. This function eliminates the need for users to know the name of a network host supporting a specific service. SLP implementation for a Personal Communications client allows load balancing and dynamic location of a specific LU or LU pool across a group of servers. IBM® Communications Server for Windows® V6.1.x and V6.4 currently supports SLP. This support can be used in conjunction with SSL support.
