Adapter Setup Information

In Windows® 8, Windows® 8.1, or Windows® 10 and later operating system, Personal Communications does not install drivers for communications adapters (MPA and SDLC). You have to install the drivers and create devices using the Windows® Hardware wizard or the Device Manager. You must use that process for both Plug-and-Play and non-Plug-and-Play adapters. The drivers and .INF files are located on the Personal Communications installation image in the \admin\drivers subdirectory.

If you are installing Personal Communications Version 16.0 on Windows® 8, Windows® 8.1, or Windows® 10 or later operating system over a previous release of Personal Communications, and you are using a communications adapter, you should update the existing driver using the Windows® Device Manager.

Not all communications adapters listed here are supported for Windows® 8, Windows® 8.1, or Windows® 10 and later operating system.
Note:
For more information about driver installation, updating drivers, and adapter setup, refer to the CD-ROM Guide to Installation.

The following sections provide additional information about configuring adapters, including PCMCIA and PCI cards.
