Terminal Type to Be Negotiated with TN3270

The terminal type to be negotiated is set to IBM-3278-2-E, IBM-3278-3-E, IBM-3278-4-E, or IBM3278-5-E according to the screen size that is specified on the Customize Communication 3270 Host panel. If you need to specify IBM-3279-2-E or IBM-3279-3-E (for graphics), add the following line to the [Telnet3270] section in the workstation profile (.WS): 
  TerminalType=3279
Note:
The following error message might be logged by z/OS console when the IBM Personal Communications version 6.0.2 with a 62x160 screen size is used: 
"IEE936I CONSOLE HHSP0141 INITIALIZATION ERROR - RC:01 - 3277-2 IS ASSUMED"
z/OS console connection is made through the OSA-ICC telnet server. This server does not support the Terminal Type of IBM-DYNAMIC. To resolve the problem, take the following steps:
  1. Edit the WS session profile.
  2. Add the following statements under the Telnet3270 stanza to force IBM Personal Communications to use the original default string: 
    [Telnet3270]
