persistent

The persistent field-level property indicates whether the field is included in the implicit SQL statements generated for the SQL record. An error occurs at run time if all the following conditions are true:
  • The persistent property is set to YES.
  • Your code relies on an implicit SQL statement.
  • No column matches the value of the column property for the field (the default value is the field name).

To associate a temporary program variable with an SQL row without having a corresponding column for the variable in the database, set persistent to NO. For example, use such a variable to indicate whether the program has modified the row.

For information about implicit SQL statements, see "SQL data access."
