Enhanced ISPF: Reference List, Search, Change, and PDSE Workbench
File Manager provides several enhancements to the basic facilities that are available in an ISPF session: Enhanced Reference List, Enhanced Search, Enhanced Change, Indexed Search, and PDSE Workbench.
Indexed search
Use the indexed search to search for words in one or more partitioned data sets that are not load libraries. The search uses an index that contains all of the words and the occurrences of each word in a group of data sets.

Navigation

The Indexed search report is similar to the Enhanced search report and the navigation of the report is similar. See Navigating the Enhanced search and Change report for details about how you can navigate the Indexed search report.

The usage of the enhanced search key for summarizing the report is identical, so it is important to set up the enhanced search key. See Using F4 from any edit or view session when positioned on a string or word and Using the F4 function key to learn how to use the function key.

In addition to enhanced search report navigation, indexed search supports the following primary command from all view or edit sessions produced:

/: If this command is issued with the cursor on a searchable word, then a nested Index Search panel with the matching words is displayed.

If you press Enter on any word from a resultant view or edit session of data – then a nested indexed search is performed and a nested indexed search report is produced.

The CANcel primary command returns you to the previous Index search panel display.
