Panel and field descriptions
- Data set name
- This is the index directory data set name that contains index members.
Leave this field blank to select from a history list.
You can enter a generic name to select from a matching data set list. In a generic name, use the percent (%) sign to represent a single character and an asterisk (*) to represent any number of characters within one qualifier. Two asterisks (**) represent any number of characters within any number of qualifiers.
If the data set name is not found in the catalog, then a prompt to allocate the data set is displayed.Note: Use the allocate dialog to allocate the index data set to ensure it is defined with the correct file attributes. - Member pattern
- Specify a member pattern to filter the member list.
- Jobcard
- Enter the forward slash (/ ) to specify the job card for an index build job. Note: Ensure REGION=OM is used because the index is built in memory before the data set is created.
- Reuse
- Enter the forward slash (/ ) to select this option to reuse the existing allocation rather than delete and define the
data set during an index build. Note: . It is recommended to use the default behavior because it sizes the data set exactly to the index being built. This option is only available for the unlikely event that a delete or define cannot be performed due to the data set being allocated, but not open to another address space.
