Creating a new index directory data set

Create a new index directory data set and allocate the index directory file.

The Index list panel is displayed the first time the XFind command is invoked or subsequently by specifying the I parameter with the XFind command:

XF I

To create a new index directory data set, complete the following steps:

1. Enter a new index directory data set name and press Enter. In the following example, the new index directory data set name is FMN.XFIND.INDEX.DIR

2. Allocate the index directory file.

3. Press Enter. The new data set is allocated.

Now that the new data set is allocated, you can proceed to create an index member as described in Index definition members.
