Rational® ClearQuest® Web is a browser-based interface to Rational ClearQuest that runs on Windows, the UNIX system, and Linux. You can track defects and change requests in Rational ClearQuest Web through this interface. When a session times out, you can re-authenticate and continue where you left off because the state of the user interface is retained.
Use the Rational® ClearQuest® Client to submit, modify, and track change requests and to analyze project progress.
Queries are customized searches of a Rational® ClearQuest® database.
Add filter definitions to queries to select only those database records that meet the criteria you define.
There are several ways to create queries in the Rational® ClearQuest® for Windows® client that accommodate the types of queries you want to create and your level of experience.
You can use the Query wizard to guide you in selecting the fields to use in your result-set display and the fields and corresponding values to use as query filters.
Use the Define how the query displays page of the Query wizard to customize your result-set display.
You can customize the column titles in your result-set display. By default, each column is titled with the name of the record field that it displays.
You can use the Select fields to use as query filters page of the Query wizard to select query filters.
The first step in creating a query is to select a record type. You can only select one record type from the list.
Use the Define query filters page of the Query wizard to define static and dynamic filters and filter-expression operators.
You can group filters in the Filter Criteria list using the logical operators AND and OR. Use the Query editor or the Query wizard to group query filters to create complex filters.
You can store frequently used fields in the Favorites folder for easy access when creating or editing queries.
You can save queries for repeated use in new login sessions.
You must have the SQL Editor privilege. You must also have a solid knowledge of SQL and your underlying Rational® ClearQuest® database before editing the SQL properties of a query. After you modify the SQL properties, you can no longer edit the query from the Rational ClearQuest user interface.
The application lifecycle management (ALM) packages and ALM schema provide out-of-the-box solutions for ensuring ALM best practices in your new or existing Rational® ClearQuest® change management system.
You can integrate Rational® ClearQuest® with other software by adding packages to existing schema.
