Setting up licenses

- Using a license server to set up the licenses. See License server.
Product activation kit
You can download the product activation kit from Rational License Key Center. You can find details about the Rational License Key Center in the following web pages: Product Activation of Eclipse-based Rational products and IBM Support - Licensing.
After you download the product activation kit, you must use the product activation kit to set up licenses after you install the product.
For setting up licenses by using the product activation kit, see Using product activation kit to set up licenses.
License server
You can set up IBM® Common License Key Server or IBM® Rational® License Key Server to deploy the licenses.
Verify from the System Requirements, the supported license server that you can use to deploy the licenses for your product.
For information about setting up the license server, see IBM Common Licensing documentation. You can also contact your IBM Support representative for directions on the license server.
After you obtain the licenses and set up a license server, you can configure licenses as floating licenses on the computer on which you install the product. To generate the floating licenses, you need the hostname and port number of the license server. Floating licenses are generated for a specific license server.
For setting up floating licenses, see Enabling floating licenses.
