Extracting the downloaded product software packages
When you want to use the downloaded product software packages for installation, you must extract the archive files to a repository location or folder on the computer on which you want to install the products. IBM® Installation Manager uses this repository location for sourcing the product software during installation.
Before you begin
- Downloaded the product software packages that are in your entitlement from IBM Passport Advantage website to a folder on your computer.
- Installed IBM® Installation Manager. For more information about IBM® Installation Manager, refer to IBM® Installation Manager documentation.
About this task
If an installation package uses multiple archives that are packaged into folders or disks, extract all the archives to the same root folder.
Procedure
-
Create a temporary folder on your computer in which you can extract the installation
files.
For example, on computers that run on Windows, the folder can be as follows: C:\Install\<productName>. On computers that run on Linux or other operating systems, the folder can be as follows: opt/install/<productName>.Note: This location can be referred to as the temp_install location.
-
Open the file archives and extract the archived folder to the
temp_install location.
The following table displays the locations to extract the file archives when you want to use either launchpad or IBM® Installation Manager, if you already have installed IBM® Installation Manager.
