Viewing running proxies

You can view all IBM® Rational® Integration Tester proxies that are registered with the current IBM® Rational® Test Control Panel instance and that are running. You can view the agents and the routing or recording rules if the security settings were enabled for you to view them.

Procedure

  1. Log into Rational® Test Control Panel.

    The application window is displayed.

  2. Click the Infrastructure icon or navigation link.

    The Infrastructure Dashboard is displayed.

Any Rational® Integration Tester proxies registered with the current Rational® Test Control Panel instance and are currently running are displayed with the status shown as Connected. You can view the details such as identity, domain and environment, current status, recipient, for each of the proxies.

Java virtualization agents enable you to intercept and record Java method calls from Java applications. You can run multiple Java virtualization agents and you can specify an instance name for each agent to disambiguate them. Each Java virtualization agent must register with a Rational® Test Control Panel instance so that you can monitor it. A Rational® Integration Tester Java virtualization agent is displayed only if the Java application into which the agent is installed is running.

Note: You have the option to configure an instance name for each Rational® Integration Tester proxy that is registered with Rational® Test Control Panel. Assigning a name makes it easier to identify a specific agent when there are two or more agents of the same type registered with Rational® Test Control Panel. Configuring an instance name involves uncommenting and editing the identifier name setting in the configuration file of the proxy and then restarting the proxy.
  3. To find other details for each proxy, expand the card by clicking the expand icon (image of the icon).
The following tabs are available for a proxy:
    Tab Description

    Details

Find information about the following details: capabilities, software version number, configuration file location, system, log file location, ports, and attributes.

    Statistics

Displays graphically the traffic details that the proxy collects. The data displayed is grouped into 30-second intervals.
Note: If there are more than ten intervals, old intervals are discarded.
    The following statistics are displayed:
    • Observed requests: The total number of requests observed during the period.
    • Recorded: The number of observed requests that were recorded during the period.
    • Routed: The number of observed requests that were routed during the period.

    Observed Resources

Displays details about the resources that the proxy has observed in its traffic. The data displayed is grouped into 30-second intervals.
Note: For each 30-second period, the proxy will provide observation data for a maximum of 100 unique resources.
The following intercept types are supported:
    • CICS® Transaction Gateway (TG) proxies
Note: Resource observations will not be provided if the proxy is running in the CICS® Transaction Gateway daemon.
    • HTTP proxies (see Virtualizing HTTP)
    • JDBC proxies
    • SIBus Intercept Mediators
    • TCP proxies (see Virtualizing TCP)

    Activity

Lists the log of the activities in a tabular view. Details displayed are about the activity, the user, the date and time of the activity performed.

You can sort the details in any column in an ascending or descending order by clicking the column header of any column.
Note: Proxy console output is not viewable in Rational® Test Control Panel, so you must view the console output of a proxy on the computer where it is running.

To view details about any routing or recording rules defined for the proxy, see Viewing recording or routing rules.
