Using repository locations

If you have IBM® Installation Manager installed, and you downloaded and extracted the installation packages to your computer, you can start the installation by specifying the location of the installation file repositories.

Before you begin

About this task

  • If you download the launchpad package and point to the repository.config file in that package, the locations of all the required installation files and the update repositories are preconfigured. Provided you extracted all the installation files in the recommended structure, Installation Manager finds all the required files automatically, and you do not need to create separate repository locations for each of the installation packages.
  • If you downloaded only the core installation packages and not the launchpad package, you must create repository locations that point to the disktag.inf file in each package. If there are multiple packages, you must create repository locations for each package. If a package contains multiple disks, create repository locations pointing to each disktag.inf file or supply the information when prompted during the installation.

Procedure

  1. Start an existing instance of Installation Manager and provide the location of the installation package as a repository:
    1. In Installation Manager, click File > Preferences.
    2. Click Add Repository Location and provide the path to the repository.config file (if it is a setup or launchpad package) or the file (if it is a core installation package) in the installation directory that you extractedthat is in the directory into which you extracted the package.
  2. Select the language for the installation program.
  3. Click Install IBM® Rational® Test Workbench.
