  File Manager provides security for system-oriented functions through RACF® (or an equivalent security product).

IBM File Manager for z/OS is a host component that supports various interfaces such as Eclipse and Microsoft Visual Studio Code IDEs.
File Manager on Eclipse
File Manager plug-in for Eclipse, when used with an Eclipse-based platform such as IBM® Explorer for z/OS® or IBM Developer for z/OS, provides easy access through a graphical user interface (GUI) on the workstation to IBM File Manager for z/OS.

Authorizing the PL/I compiler library for batch processing

If File Manager runs APF-authorized in batch mode and you use PL/I copybook templates, you must also authorize the PL/I compiler library.

Alternatively, run File Manager batch jobs without APF authorization.

If the PL/I compiler library is not authorized and is included in the JOBLIB or STEPLIB concatenation with the File Manager load library, File Manager does not run APF-authorized in batch mode.
