Creating a view prior to browsing or editing
To create a view prior to browsing or editing:
- Select Views (option 4.2) from the Primary Option menu. The View Entry panel is displayed
- In the Template fields, enter the data set and member name of your template.
- In the View: Data set name field, enter the name of an existing data set, in which you want to store your view.
- In the View: Member field, enter the name of a new member. This member is created when the view is saved.
- If you want your new view to begin as a copy
of an existing view, enter the data set name and
member name of the model view in the
Model view: fields, and then
enter the CM primary command on the Command line.

Enter the CT primary command on the Command line.
- Press the Enter key. The view is created and a confirmation message is displayed in the top right corner of the panel.
After creating a view using either method, you can edit it. You can also edit a view while you are browsing or editing a database.
