Upgrade from an earlier release

If you are upgrading from CICS® IA 5.3 or 5.5, it is best practice to take a copy of your ISPTABL data set before you run the ISPF dialog. The ISPF dialog automatically upgrades your ISPTABL data set by creating new members for the ISPF table format that is used by CICS® IA 6.1.

If you are upgrading from CICS IA 5.3 the configurations in the CIUCIC53, CIUDB253, and CIUUDB53 tables are upgraded and stored in the new, CIUCIC61, CIUDB261, and CIUUDB61 tables.

If you are upgrading from CICS IA 5.5 the configurations in the CIUCIC55, CIUDB255, and CIUUDB55 tables are upgraded and stored in the new, CIUCIC61, CIUDB261, and CIUUDB61 tables.

If you are applying maintenance to your current release the configurations in the CIUCIC61, CIUDB261, and CIUUDB61 tables may be upgraded in place when the configuration utility is next executed. Old versions of the configuration tables CIUCIC61, CIUDB261, and CIUUDB61 are saved in tables OOOTABN1, OOOTABN2, and OOOTABN3.
