Running the TIBCO Rendezvous probe
Using the RVD discovery process, the TIBCO Rendezvous probe can intelligently search for RV services on network RVDs to help you to build a configuration.
About this task
To use the TIBCO Rendezvous probe:
Procedure
- To enable
rvtrace
, select the Interface with SNMP agent in rvtrace process check box.Note: The probe is able to start and uservtrace
to better discover hosts on the network by selecting the Interface with SNMP agent in rvtrace process check box. Ifrvtrace
is enabled but not configured, a warning message is displayed. - When ready, click Discover to
start the discovery process.
The process can take several minutes because the probe must allow enough time to detect all of the RVDs on the network. Progress is updated as the process continues.
As new services are discovered, subscriptions are created to detect hosts on them, so the completion time can increase to allow enough time (90 seconds) for those advisory messages to be recorded.
The following settings are available to prevent the probe from creating too many simultaneous transports and possibly causing network problems:
- Maximum active listeners limits the number of transports that are created.
- Maximum active listeners per host limits
the number of transports on a host.
Both settings can be modified while the discovery process is active.
The new groups are added to the configuration.
Note: The added groups are given default names, which you can change.Note: There is no problem in having more than one RVD listening on the same service on the same network.
