HTTP/TCP proxy setup
The process of configuring applications to use the HTTP/TCP proxy varies according to the application.
Programmatic custom certificate creation in proxy
When an HTTPS connection is established with an HTTP/TCP proxy, the certificate that is presented to the client by the proxy is retrieved from an existing keypair that represent the intended endpoint or is generated as the default certificate by the proxy and is signed by the private key in the keystore that is configured in the registration.xml. Ordinarily, this mechanism is sufficient. If full control over the generation of certificates is required, an alternative advanced approach is available. The approach requires that custom code is written to generate and sign the required certificates.
Interface CertificateCreator
The Interface CertificateCreator is used as an interface to be implemented by external certificate generation classes when you have custom certificates to be generated and signed by the client. Such classes will be accessed by the Java™ service loader mechanism.

Method Detail

init

void init(java.net.URL registrationXmlLocation) throws a java.io.IOException error.

Parameters:: registrationXmlLocation is the URL that references the registration.xml file in use by the proxy.
Throws:: java.io.IOException error is displayed if the creator cannot be initialized.

createCertificate

java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] createCertificate(java.io.InputStream pkcs10CertificationRequest) throws a java.io.IOException error.

Create a certificate chain based on a certificate request.

Parameters:: pkcs10CertificationRequest - to be used for a DER encoded PKCS10 certificate request.
Returns:: The full certificate chain for the created certificate in order from the created certificate to the root CA certificate.
Throws:: java.io.IOException - Error thrown if there are any errors creating the certificate chain.
