Licenses for Rational® Test Virtualization Server
You can find information about the licenses that you can purchase to use Rational® Test Virtualization Server.
Processor value unit (PVU) licensing
In this licensing mode, you receive printed versions of the licenses. No configuration is necessary.
For more information about Processor value unit (PVU) licensing and token licensing, see License descriptions.
Agent mode (simultaneous session) licensing
From Rational® Performance Test Server 8.5.0.2 onwards, Rational® Performance Test Server provide support for Agent mode licensing, which is also known as simultaneous session licensing. In this type of licensing, you can use token licenses. This licensing requires that a Rational® License Server be installed in the environment and configured with valid licenses in order for Rational® Integration Tester Agent to operate. Additionally, the Agent must be configured with the details of the license server so that the Agent is able to communicate with the license server at runtime.
For more information about simultaneous session licensing, see http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27039621.
Simultaneous session licensing requires manual configuration. For information about configuring the agent to support token licenses, see Configuring agents to support token licensing.
Rational® Test Virtualization Server Concurrent Virtual Services licensing
When running stubs in a Docker container using the Rational® Test Virtualization Server image or from a Rational® Integration Tester Agent configured with the Rational® Test Virtualization Server - CVS mode bundle, a single Rational® Test Virtualization Server CVS license is consumed for each stub that is started and returned when the stub stops.
The CVS license requires that a Rational License Server is installed on a computer that is accessible from the Docker container or the agent computer at runtime. The Docker host and the agent computer must be configured with valid CVS licenses and Rational® Test Workbench licenses.
If you are running any resource other than a stub in a Docker container using the Rational® Test Virtualization Server image or from a Rational® Integration Tester Agent configured with the Rational® Test Virtualization Server - CVS mode bundle, a single Rational® Test Workbench license is acquired for the duration of the run and returned once the run is completed."
