- Installation of Rational® Integration Tester Agent

    - License descriptions
      As a purchaser of an IBM® Rational® software product, you can choose from four types of product licenses:
- Configuring Rational® Integration Tester Agent
  After you install Rational® Integration Tester Agent, you must edit or modify the attributes in the Agent.config file for the features that you want to test by using the agent. You need to configure the libraries to enable testing the SUT based on certain technologies and also set up the required proxies for enabling testing.
- Running Rational® Integration Tester Agent on Microsoft™ Windows™
  On computers running Microsoft™ Windows™, the agent is typically installed and run as a Windows service.
- Running Rational® Integration Tester Agent on Unix-like systems
  On Unix-like systems, you can start Rational® Integration Tester Agent by running the Agent executable in the root of the Rational Integration Tester Agent installation directory (for example, /opt/IBM/RIT-Agent/).
- Rational® Integration Tester Agent
  You can use workarounds to common problems that you might encounter when you install and run the Rational® Integration Tester Agent.
- HTTP/TCP proxy setup
  The process of configuring applications to use the HTTP/TCP proxy varies according to the application.
- Setting up the JDBC proxy
  After you install the JDBC proxy, you must deploy the proxy into the Java™ virtual machine (JVM) of the relevant applications, set up the proxy for use, and verify that it is deployed.
- Administering Rational® Test Control Panel
  IBM® Rational® Test Control Panel is a server-based web application providing a central repository for virtualized services. The Rational Test Control Panel allows you to use virtual services published with Rational Integration Tester to create, share, and deploy virtualized test environments in IBM Rational Test Virtualization Server.

Licenses for Rational® Test Virtualization Server

Processor value unit (PVU) licensing

In this licensing mode, you receive printed versions of the licenses. No configuration is necessary.

Agent mode (simultaneous session) licensing

From Version 8.5.0.2 onwards, Rational® Test Virtualization Server provide support for Agent mode licensing, which is also known as simultaneous session licensing. In this type of licensing, you can use token licenses. This licensing requires that a Rational® License Server be installed in the environment and configured with valid licenses in order for Rational® Integration Tester Agent to operate. Additionally, the Agent must be configured with the details of the license server so that the Agent is able to communicate with the license server at runtime.

Rational® Test Virtualization Server Concurrent Virtual Services licensing

Rational® Test Virtualization Server V9.2.1 or later, supports Concurrent Virtual Services licensing. With this form of licensing, each concurrent virtual service consumes a single license.

When running stubs with Docker, a single IBM® Rational® Test Virtualization Server Concurrent Virtual Service license is consumed for each stub that is running in a container. Each stub running under a concurrent virtual service license is limited to 10 transactions per second.

This license requires that a Rational License Server be installed in the environment and configured with valid concurrent virtual services licenses in order for stubs to run in containers.

If running any resource other than a stub in Docker, a single Rational® Test Workbench or Rational® Integration Tester license is acquired for the duration of the run and returned once the run terminates.
