When you want to use the enhanced functionalities of Rational® Performance Tester Rational Service Tester for SOA Quality, you must upgrade to the latest version of the product software.

- Installation of Rational® Performance Tester
  Installing the product involves verifying requirements, planning, managing licenses, and configuring web-based help. This section lists all such topics.
- License management
  Licensing for your installed IBM® software and customized packages is administered through the Manage Licenses wizard in the IBM Installation Manager. The Manage Licenses wizard displays license information for each installed package.
- Product upgrade and migration
  When you want to use the enhanced functionalities of Rational® Performance Tester Rational Service Tester for SOA Quality, you must upgrade to the latest version of the product software.
  - Updating Rational® Performance Tester
    You can search for product updates and install the updates for your product.
  - Migrating test assets to new version of the product
    After you install a later version of the product and you open the product, you are prompted to migrate test projects, tests, schedules, rules, and reports. Tests and schedules are migrated automatically when you modify and save them.
- Configuration of the product
  You must configure Rational® Performance Tester when you want to run SAP tests, collect response time breakdown data, or use the product in the Docker container.
- Integration with other products
  You can integrate Rational® Performance Tester with certain products to run tests, manage test assets, and create defects.

Product upgrade and migration

When you want to use the enhanced functionalities of Rational® Performance Tester Rational® Service Tester for SOA Quality, you must upgrade to the latest version of the product software.

You can upgrade to Rational® Performance Tester Rational® Service Tester for SOA Quality 10.1.3 only from 10.1.0 or later.

Remember:

If you installed Rational® Performance Tester that is earlier than 10.1.0, you cannot upgrade the product to the latest version. You must uninstall the existing version of the product before you install the latest version of the product.
After you installed Rational® Performance Tester 10.1.3, at any point in time if you want to use earlier versions of the product, you cannot roll back to the previous version of the product. You must uninstall Rational® Performance Tester 10.1.3, and then install the required version of the product.
