Creating logical SAP application servers

You can set up an SAP application server as a synchronization source in an Rational® Integration Tester project.

Before you begin

Create a physical Rational® Integration Tester connection to the SAP application server.

About this task

During synchronization, a hierarchy of business object artifacts is created in your project.

Procedure

  1. Launch the Create a new Synchronization Source wizard in one of the following ways:
    • Click SAP > SAP System on the menu bar in the Logical or Synchronization view.
    • Click the Create Synchronization Source icon () and select SAP System from the Type list in the Create a new Synchronization Source wizard.
  2. Complete the information on the first page of the Create a new Synchronization Source wizard that is unique to the SCA Domain.

    That information consists of the following fields:
    1. Click Browse to select an existing physical connection to an SAP application server.
      If you do not select a physical connection, the wizard proceeds with an unbound logical object, and a default component name and environment mapping, which you can change later. If you do not bind the external logical resource to a physical connection, you will not be able to synchronize with the selected SAP application server.

    2. Alternatively, click New to set up a new physical connection.

    3. On the Business Objects page, click Refresh to display the available objects in the Business Object Repository on the SAP application server. Select the Import check box for each object that you want to import.
      Only those business objects for which business application programming interfaces (BAPIs) are configured are displayed.

    4. On the RFCs page, select the remote function calls (RFCs) to include as part of your testing.
      You can filter by function name or group, using asterisk (*) and question mark (?) wildcards. You can specify multiple comma-separated terms in the Function filter field. After refreshing the display, select the check box in the Import column for each function to include.

    5. On the IDocs tab, click Refresh to display a list of available IDocs from the intermediate document (IDoc) repository on the SAP application server. In the Import column, select each IDoc to import.

  3. Complete the wizard by following the instructions in Adding a synchronization source.
