Installing Rational® Integration Tester by using the launchpad program

You can use the launchpad program to install Rational® Integration Tester when you want to use the IBM® Rational® Test Workbench or IBM® Rational® Integration Tester package.

Before you begin

You must have completed the following tasks:

Procedure

  1. Open the location on your computer where you downloaded the software package.
  2. Open the launchpad application.
  3. Select the operating system on which you want to install the software.
  4. Select the Launch the IBM® Installation Manager option.

The IBM® Installation Manager installation dialog is displayed with all products in the package as selected for installation.

  5. Clear or retain the products selected for installation. Ensure that you select IBM® Rational® Integration Tester to install.

If you already installed an earlier version of the product, you are prompted about the existing installation and you need to opt if you want them to be upgraded to the version you downloaded. Updates that have dependencies are automatically selected and cleared together.

To view all updates that are found for the available packages, select Show all versions and click Check for Other Versions, Fixes, and Extensions. You require your Passport Advantage login credentials to view and install any newer packages or updates to the selected version of the software.

  6. Click Next.
  7. Read the license agreement for Rational® Integration Tester, and then click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select the package group into which Rational® Integration Tester is to be installed and either retain the default location or enter the location where the installation files are created.

The shared resources directory is the location to which installation artifacts that can be used by one or more package groups are written. To change the shared resources directory, uninstall all the installed packages and then reinstall them in to the new directory location.

  10. Click Next.
  11. Select the translations to install, and then click Next.
  12. To enable recording the HTTP, TCP and FIX transport messages using the network packet capture method, select the Network Packet Capture feature option to install this software with Rational® Integration Tester. Then, click Next.
  13. On the common licensing configuration page, if you are using floating or token licenses, type the TCP/IP port number and hostname of the license servers to use to configure licensing on the workbench computer. Separate the port number and hostname with the at sign (@). Separate the port-host pairs with semicolons (;). To use the default port, omit the port number. If you do not know the port numbers and names of license servers to use, you can configure the license servers after installation by using Rational® License Key Administrator.
For example, to configure three license servers that are named license1, license2, and license3 to use port 27000, the default port, and port 1765, respectively, enter this text:

    27000@license1;@license2;1765@license3

    Click Next.
  14. On the Summary page, review your choices before you install the product package and click Install.
A progress indicator shows the percentage of the installation that is completed. When the installation process is complete, a confirmation message is displayed.
  15. Click View log file to open the installation log file for the current session in a new window. You must close the Installation Log window to continue.

Alternatively, in Installation Manager, go to File > View Log to verify if the installation was successful.

  16. Click Finish to start Rational® Integration Tester.

The Install Package wizard is closed and you are returned to the launchpad program.
