Tool Bar Setup

The tool bar displays under the menu bar in your session window to allow quick access to the Personal Communications functions, commands, and defined macros.

Use the tool bar pop-up menu to quickly and easily create, edit, and delete tool bar items, as well as to save and load customized tool bars. When you customize the tool bar, you can change the order of items, add and delete items, change the function, title, or graphic associated with any item, change the fonts, colors, and other tool bar visual style elements. The settings are stored in a .BAR file.

To customize your tool bar, select Tool Bar → Tool Bar Style from the Settings menu, or display the Tool Bar pop-up menu by clicking on the right mouse button while pointing at any part of the tool bar.

For information about customizing the tool bar, refer to the online help.

If you want to hide the tool bar, see Showing or Hiding the Menu Bar, Status Bar, or Tool Bar.

The Tool Bar in the older version of PCOMM had a horizontal layout. A silent installation parameter has been introduced to preserve this layout in the updated version, allowing users to retain the horizontal toolbar style.
Note:
  • The horizontal toolbar feature doesn't support web server upgrades or rollbacks.
  • This feature is exclusively available through silent installation.
Silent Installation Parameter:
  • TBHZALIGN = 0 (Default)

    • The default value is “0”, which applies the default vertical toolbar style.
    • When launching pcsws.exe, the toolbar will appear in the vertical (default) layout.
  • TBHZALIGN = 1

    • Setting the value to “1” will enable the horizontal toolbar style.
    • In the pcswin.ini file, the following keyword will be added under the [ToolBar] section:

      [ToolBar]

      Horizontal=Y

    • This setting indicates that the user has installed the toolbar in a horizontal layout.

When launching pcsws.exe, the toolbar will appear in the horizontal layout.

Silent Installation Command with Parameters:

For PCOMM v1503 full build, the software can be installed silently using the following command:

setup.exe /v"/L*v \"%temp%\pcsinst.log\" USEINI=\"%temp%\custom.ini\" ONLYINI=1 TBHZALIGN=1"

If the TBHZALIGN parameter is set to 1, the newly created pcsws.exe will be copied to the InstallDIR, enabling the horizontal toolbar style.

For RPUI packages, the silent installation command line is as follows:

msiexec.exe /i <PATH_OF_RPUIMSI> /qn TBHZALIGN=1 /l*v <PATH_OF_RPUILOGFILE>

Setting TBHZALIGN=1 will also enable the horizontal toolbar layout during installation.
Note:
If you prefer not to use the horizontal toolbar, avoid using the TBHZALIGN=1 parameter.
If the user prefers to keep the default toolbar style (vertical):
  • For full build, the traditional silent installation command is:

    setup.exe /v"/L*v \"%temp%\pcsinst.log\" USEINI=\"%temp%\custom.ini\"

  • For RPUI, the traditional silent installation command is: msiexec.exe /i <PATH_OF_RPUIMSI> /l*v <PATH_OF_RPUILOGFILE>
Note:
To maintain the old toolbar style (vertical layout), RPUI will support upgrades from the webserver (i.e., from pcsfe or pcsfm).
