Communications Server

The following changes were made for Version 6.1:
  • To enable the user to specify how a null destination address for an incoming LAN connection is matched to the link station, the NULL_ADDRESS_MEANING parameter has been added to the LINK_STATION keyword.
  • The COMPRESS_IN_SERIES parameters on the MODE and NODE keywords have been removed because they are no longer configured by the user.
  • To enable the user to specify the maximum number of locates that the node can process simultaneously, the MAX_LOCATES parameter has been added to the NODE keyword.
  • To enable the user to specify how host LU sessions for LUs configured as displays or printers are terminated after a connection disconnect, the SEND_TERM_SELF parameter has been added to the NODE keyword.
  • To enable the user to access more than 128 link stations through a single adapter, the following parameters have been added to the PORT_LAN_SPEC_DATA parameter of the PORT keyword:
    • INB_LINK_ACT_LIM
    • OUT_LINK_ACT_LIM
    • TOT_LINK_ACT_LIM
  • To enable the user to customize TG characteristics for links, the TG_CHARS parameter has been added to the LINK_STATION keyword and the DEFAULT_TG_CHARS parameter has been added to the PORT keyword. These parameters include the following parameter keywords:
    • COST_PER_BYTE
    • COST_PER_CONNECT_TIME
    • EFFECTIVE_CAPACITY
    • PROPAGATION_DELAY
    • SECURITY
    • USER_DEFINED_1
    • USER_DEFINED_2
    • USER_DEFINED_3

To enable the user to specify which set of TG characteristics are used, the USE_DEFAULT_TG_CHARS parameter has been added to the LINK_STATION keyword.

  • To enable the user to identify the name of the pool of unassigned printers or pool of implicit printers that is used when the TN3270 client does not specify an LU name, the DEFAULT_PRINTER_POOL_NAME parameter has been added to the TN3270E_DEF keyword.
  • To enable the user to specify that LU takeover processing is used for controlling unused LU resources at the server, the LU_TAKEOVER and LU_TAKEOVER_TIMER parameters have been added to the TN3270E_DEF keyword.
  • Telnet enhancements
    • To enable multiple port configuration for the TN3270E server, the TN3270_PORT_DEF keyword has been added.
    • With the addition of the TN3270_PORT_DEF keyword, the PORT and SECURE_PORT parameters have been removed from the TN3270E_DEF keyword.
    • Client authentication support

To specify whether verification that clients are authorized to establish a secure connection to the TN3270E or TN5250 server is performed, the CLIENT_AUTHENTICATION parameter has been added to the TN3270_PORT_DEF and TN5250_PORT_DEF keywords.

To specify the level of security used for connections on a port, the SECURITY_LEVEL parameter has been added to the TN3270_PORT_DEF and TN5250_PORT_DEF keywords.

To support certificate revocation list (CRL) processing of client certificates, the CRL_SUPPORT keyword has been added.
