Specifying the repository
A repository is a location for storing
installation or update package data. By default, IBM® Installation Manager uses an embedded URL
in each product package. Installation Manager uses the
embedded URLs to connect to a repository server through the Internet
and to search for installation packages and new features. You can
specify repository locations on the Repositories page of the Preferences
window. Your organization might require you to redirect the repository
to use intranet sites.

Note:
Updates to packages can be stored in service repositories,
such as IBM® support
sites or local update repositories. The service repositories might
be linked to the repositories that you listed in this procedure. To
search for updated packages in these linked service repositories,
make sure that Search service repositories during installation
and updates is selected. This option is selected by default.
