close considerations for GSAM and IMS™ message queues

Special considerations apply to the following cases in the IMS™ BMP or z/OS® batch environments:

serial files implemented as GSAM (generalized sequential access method) files
IMS™ message queues

In either of these cases, be aware of the following considerations:

If you close a record associated with a VSAM or sequential file, EGL issues an OS CLOSE for the file.
If you close a serial record associated with a GSAM file and the file is open due to an add or get next statement, EGL issues a CLSE call to the GSAM database.
