Installing IBM Business Developer
To install IBM Business Developer, follow the procedures in this section.
Installing Installation Manager
Use IBM® Installation Manager to install your software packages. Installation Manager is installed automatically when you start the installation for your product.
Starting Installation Manager
If you start the installation of IBM Business Developer from the Setup disc, either by using the launchpad program or the userinst program, IBM® Installation Manager automatically starts, even if it is not installed.

- Installation introduction
  This section contains the instructions to install, update, and uninstall your product.
- Planning the installation
  Before you install or update the product, plan the installation. When you effectively plan and understand the key aspects of the installation process, you can ensure a successful installation.

  - Installing from the Setup disk

    Use IBM® Installation Manager to install your software packages. Installation Manager is installed automatically when you start the installation for your product.
    - Starting Installation Manager
      If you start the installation of IBM Business Developer from the Setup disc, either by using the launchpad program or the userinst program, IBM® Installation Manager automatically starts, even if it is not installed.
  - Installing by using Installation Manager
    Install IBM Business Developer by using IBM® Installation Manager.
- Installing WebSphere® Application Server
  You can install WebSphere® Application Server.
- Post-installation tasks
  After you install your product, complete post-installation tasks, configure your product, and then start the product.
- Modifying software
  With the Modify Packages wizard in IBM® Installation Manager, you can change the language and feature selections of an installed product package. You can also use the Modify Packages wizard to install new features that might be included in a package update, such as a refresh pack.
- Updating software
  You can search for product updates and install the updates for your IBM® product.
- Reverting updates to previous versions
  You can remove an update to a package in order to revert to a previous version by using the Roll Back wizard of IBM® Installation Manager.
- Uninstalling software
  Use the IBM® Installation Manager to uninstall your product. If no other products are installed, you can uninstall Installation Manager also.
- Installing silently
  You can install a product package silently by using either Installation Manager in silent installation mode or by using IBM® Installation Manager installer. When you run Installation Manager in silent mode, the user interface is not available; instead, a response file inputs the commands that are required to install the product package.

Starting Installation Manager

If you start the installation of IBM Business Developer from the Setup disc, either by using the launchpad program or the userinst program, IBM® Installation Manager automatically starts, even if it is not installed.

About this task

If you already installed Installation Manager, you can start it in one of these ways:

Click Start > All Programs > IBM Installation Manager > IBM Installation Manager.
Change to installation_manager_directory/eclipse and run IBMIM.
