Configuring the render engine of the visual editor

You can configure Mozilla XULRunner as the render engine for visual editor.

About this task

Dojo Mobile is an HTML5 JavaScript™ framework. Internet Explorer (IE) before version 9 is not the optimal platform for EGL mobile widgets development. The default Internet Explorer version for IBM Business Developer V8.5.x is IE7 and cannot be changed. Therefore, before you use the EGL mobile widgets, ensure that your IBD has been configured to use Mozilla XULRunner as the visual editor's render engine to avoid render errors.

CAUTION:

If you cannot select Mozilla XULRunner, ensure that you have a 32-bit IBD installed. The 64-bit IBD does not support Mozilla XULRunner. For 64-bit IBD, the result can only be previewed outside of IBD with a browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

To configure Mozilla XULRunner as the render engine for the visual editor:

Procedure

Click Windows > Preference to open the preference dialog.
Navigate to EGL > Rich UI > Appearance.
On the Visual Editor Render Engine section of the General tab, select Mozilla XULRunner.
