USEDDL
- USEDDL
- Specifies whether or not FM/IMS uses the IMS Data Definition utility
(DFS3ID00) to generate dynamic PSBs when IMS management of ACBs is enabled (ACBMGMT=CATALOG).
- Y
- Dynamic PSBs are generated by submitting Data Definition Language (DDL) SQL statements to the Data Definition utility.
- N
- FM/IMS does not use the Data Definition utility. These utilities are used instead:
- The PSB Generation utility
- The IMS Catalog Library Builder utility (DFS3LU00)
- The ACB Maintenance utility
- The IMS Catalog Populate utility (DFS3PU00)
This method of generating dynamic PSBs has been deprecated, so using it is not recommended.
The default and recommended setting is USEDDL=Y.
Note:
- Support for running the Data Definition utility in a BMP region was delivered with APAR PH45367/PTF UI81894 and enabled by IMS 15.3 and support for running it in a DL/I batch region was delivered with APAR PH51761/PTF UI91330 and enabled by IMS 15.4. Ensure you are at or above these levels to use the Data Definition utility.
- The Data Definition utility can only be used to generate dynamic PSBs when IMS management of ACBs is enabled (ACBMGMT=CATALOG). When ACBs are managed by your installation (ACBMGMT=ACBLIB), the value specified for this parameter is ignored.
This parameter is optional. If it is not specified on the FMN1POPI macro statement, FM/IMS uses either the value specified on the FMN1POPD macro statement (if specified on that statement), or Y (otherwise).
