Creating a view prior to browsing or editing

To create a view prior to browsing or editing:

  1. Select Views (option 4.2) from the Primary Option menu. The View Entry panel is displayed
  2. In the Template fields, enter the data set and member name of your template.
  3. In the View: Data set name field, enter the name of an existing data set, in which you want to store your view.
  4. In the View: Member field, enter the name of a new member. This member is created when the view is saved.
  5. If you want your new view to begin as a copy of an existing view, enter the data set name and member name of the model view in the Model view: fields, and then enter the CM primary command on the Command line.

    Enter the CT primary command on the Command line.

  6. Press the Enter key. The view is created and a confirmation message is displayed in the top right corner of the panel.

After creating a view using either method, you can edit it. You can also edit a view while you are browsing or editing a database.
