Copying product packages by using IBM Packaging Utility
When you want to reuse the product software packages for multiple installations, you can copy the installable packages to a repository on an HTTP or HTTPS server by using IBM Packaging Utility.
Before you begin
- Downloaded the product software packages that are in your entitlement from IBM Passport Advantage website to a folder on your computer.
- Installed IBM® Installation Manager. For more information about Installation Manager, refer to IBM® Installation Manager documentation.
- Downloaded IBM Packaging Utility from IBM Passport Advantage website.
- Installed IBM Packaging Utility by using IBM® Installation Manager. See Installing and updating Packaging Utility.
- Connected to a web server on which you want to create the software package repository
Procedure
- Start Packaging Utility.
- On the main page of the utility, click Copy
Packages.The Prerequisite page is displayed with the following options:
- I will be downloading product packages from IBM Web
- I will be obtaining the product packages from other sources
- Click I will be obtaining the product packages from other sources.
- Click Next to advance to the Source page.

Click the Open repository option.
The Open Repository dialog is displayed.

Perform the following steps:

Click the Destination page, and perform the following steps:

Click Next.
The Summary page is displayed with the list of the selected product packages that will be copied into the destination repository. Details such as the storage space that the copy requires and the available space on the drive are also displayed.
- Click Copy to copy the selected
product packages to the destination repository.
A status bar displays that indicates the time while the copy is in progress. After the copy operation is completed, the Complete page is displayed that lists the product packages that were copied.
- Click Done to return to the Packaging Utility main page.
Results
You have used IBM Packaging Utility to copy the product software packages into a repository on a web server.
