Downloading and extracting the installation files

If you download the installation files from IBM Passport Advantage, you must extract the electronic image from compressed files for Rational® Test RealTime, and IBM Rational License Key Administrator (LKAD) before you can install the software. You must download and extract locally the compressed files so that they are automatically installed when you start the launchpad. Moreover, we recommend to download at the same time the IBM Rational License Key Server that will be required later to start Rational® Test RealTime. If you are installing from product CDs you may need to follow the same procedure to retrieve License Key Administrator (LKAD) or License Key Server.

Procedure

To download the installation files:
  1. Go to the Licensing Support page and read the getting started guide. You will find instructions on how to access your Passport Advantage and to IBM Rational Software Licence Keys.
  2. Log into IBM Rational Software License Keys Center and download locally the files you need, depending on your installation context: Rational® Test RealTime, IBM Rational License Key Administrator (LKAD) (V8.1.2 minimum), and IBM Rational License Key Server (V8.1.2 minimum).
  3. Verify the completeness of the downloaded files before extracting the image. If you select the Download Director option for downloading the installation files, the Download Director applet automatically verifies the completeness of each file that it processes.
  4. Extract each compressed file to the same directory.
    For UNIX™: When extracting files, do not include spaces in the directory names, otherwise you will be unable to run the launchpad.sh command to start the launchpad from a command line.
  5. Then, start the launchpad to install Rational® Test RealTime and IBM Rational License Key Administrator (LKAD).
