Stages in the execution of a performance test

The execution of a performance test has multiple stages.

  1. Probes and the background tests are started and allowed to initialize during pre load generation statistics collection interval.
  2. Load generation tests are run, if applicable.
  3. The post load generation statistics collection interval occurs.
Background tests are started before the pre load generation statistics collection interval and stopped after the post load generation statistics collection interval. If there are no load-generating phases (that is, if there are no load-generating tests in the performance test), this is the only duration for which the background tests run. Performance tests automatically stop after running the load-generating tests (if applicable) and the post load generation statistics collection interval.
