Getting Started
This guide provides an overview and describes the tasks to get you started with IBM® Rational® Test Workbench.
Managing licenses
You can find information about the licenses that you can purchase or purchased to use any or all products in the Rational® Test Workbench package.
Enabling floating licenses
You can enable the installed product to use a floating license from the pool of licenses that you purchased and deployed on a license server.

  - IBM® Rational® Test Workbench overview
    You can use Rational® Test Workbench to create, modify, and run different kinds of tests and to organize test assets.

    The IBM® Rational® Test Workbench installation package includes several products and components. These can be installed together or separately.

    - License descriptions
      As a purchaser of an IBM® Rational® software product, you can choose from the following types of product licenses:
    - Enabling floating licenses
      You can enable the installed product to use a floating license from the pool of licenses that you purchased and deployed on a license server.
    - Using product activation kit to set up licenses
      You can use the product activation kit to set up permanent and authorized licenses for your installed products. If you installed products that are available with a trial license, you must purchase authorized licenses for continual usage of the products. The product activation kit provides the capability to set up the permanent licenses for the purchased products before or after the expiry of the trial license.

Enabling floating licenses

You can enable the installed product to use a floating license from the pool of licenses that you purchased and deployed on a license server.

Before you begin

You must have completed the following activites:

Purchased licenses to use the product.
Set up a license server.
Installed the product on your computer.

Procedure

Open Installation Manager, if it is not already open.

The main page of Installation Manager is displayed.
Click Manage Licenses.

The products that you installed by using Installation Manager are listed.
Select the product for which you want to enable the floating licenses.
Select the Configure Floating license support option, and then click Next.
Review and accept the license agreement, and then click Next.

The Floating License Support page is displayed.
Perform the following steps:
1. Select the Enable floating license enforcement option.
2. Click the Add icon .
  
  The Add Server dialog is displayed with the Single Server opiton as selected.
3. Enter the name of the license server on which the licenses are deployed and the port number.
  
  Note: The default port number is 27000.
4. Click OK.
Click Finish to enable the floating license in the installed product.

Results

You have configured the floating licenses for the installed product.
