Synchronizing a WebSphere® Application Server instance

You can set up an IBM® WebSphere® Application Server instance as a synchronization source in an IBM® Rational® Integration Tester project.

Before you begin

Before synchronizing with a WebSphere® Application Server instance, you must first create a logical WebSphere® Application Server resource and bind it to a physical WebSphere® Application Server resource.

About this task

Synchronizing HTTP-based web services running on a WebSphere® Application Server instance creates operations in the Logical view of your Rational® Integration Tester project. Synchronizing WebSphere® MQ, Java message service (JMS), and database sources running on the server instance creates logical and physical transports in your project.
Note: The supported databases for synchronizing data sources are IBM® Db2®, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL.

Procedure

  1. Launch the Create a new Synchronization Source wizard in one of the following ways:
    • Click IBM > IBM WebSphere Application Server on the menu bar in the Logical or Synchronization view.
    • Click the Create Synchronization Source icon () and select IBM WebSphere Application Server from the Type list in the Create a new Synchronization Source wizard.
  2. Click Browse to select an existing physical connection to a WebSphere® Application Server instance. The Select a Resource window is displayed.
  3. Select a physical WebSphere® Application Server instance connection. Selecting a connection binds the external logical resource to a physical connection to the WebSphere® Application Server instance.
Note: If you do not select a physical connection, the wizard proceeds with an unbound logical object, and a default component name and Rational® Integration Tester environment mapping, which you can change later. If you do not bind the external logical resource to a physical connection during or after using the wizard, you cannot synchronize with the WebSphere® Application Server instance.
  4. Complete the wizard by following the instructions in Adding a synchronization source.
