Setting up an application link in the Jira server

You must set up an application link in the Jira server to establish a connection between the Jira server and Rational® Test Automation Server.

Before you begin

You must have completed the following tasks:
  • Ensured that you are assigned the privileges of an administrator in Jira.

  • Generated a public key and a consumer key for the project in Rational® Test Automation Server and saved the keys in a text file. See Adding a Jira Software server URL.

  • Copied the URL of Rational® Test Automation Server.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Jira server.
  2. Select any of the following options based on the method that you used to install the Jira server:

    • If you installed the Jira server on cloud, go to Step 3.

    • If you installed the on-premise Jira server 8.21.x or earlier, go to Step 4.

    • If you installed the on-premise Jira server 8.22.x or later, go to Step 5.

  3. Perform the following steps to create the application link in the Jira server that is installed on cloud:
    1. Click Settings > Products.
    2. Click Application links in the left navigation.
    3. Click Create link.
    4. Select Direct application link.
    5. Enter the URL of Rational® Test Automation Server in the Application URL field, and then click Continue.
    6. Verify the URL on the Configure Application URL dialog, and then click Continue.
    7. Go to Step 6.
  4. Perform the following steps to create the application link in the on-premise Jira server 8.21.x or earlier:
    1. Click Settings > Applications
    2. Click Application links in the left navigation.
    3. Verify the URL on the Configure Application URL dialog, and then click Continue.
    4. Go to Step 6.
  5. Perform the following steps to create the application link in the on-premise Jira server 8.22.x or later:
    1. Click Settings > Applications
    2. Click Application links in the left navigation.
    3. Click Create link, and then select Atlassian product as application type.
    4. Verify the URL on the Configure Application URL dialog, and then click Continue.
    5. Go to Step 6.
  6. Perform the following steps on the Review link dialog to provide the information about Rational® Test Automation Server:
    1. Enter a name for Rational® Test Automation Server in the Application Name field.

      You must provide a unique name to Rational® Test Automation Server. For example, rtas.

    2. Select Generic Application as Application Type from the list.
    3. Select the Create incoming link checkbox to set up a one-way incoming link from Rational® Test Automation Server to the Jira server.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Enter the consumer key that was generated on Rational® Test Automation Server and copied into the text file, in the Consumer Key field.
    6. Enter a name in the Consumer Name field.
      For example, IBM.
    7. Enter the public key from the text file in the Public Key field.
  7. Click Continue.

    The link to the application you configured in Jira is displayed on the Application links page.

Results

You have set up the application link to Rational® Test Automation Server in the Jira server.
